​Chantal is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in children and adolescents, play therapy, parenting, young adult (20-something) life transitions, grief and loss, and women's issues. She currently maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Winston Salem, NC. As a mother, former elementary school teacher, and former school counselor, Chantal has 15+ years of experience working with children. Whether it's life transition issues, parenting, ADHD, divorce, anxiety, depression, and beyond, Chantal believes that everyone has the inner wisdom and strength to live a joyful, healthy life during all steps of their journey. Qualifications

Chantal Hayes is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #9282) approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors (NCBLPC). She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Life Coach (CLC). In 2008 Chantal attended graduate school at the University of San Francisco, CA where she earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Counseling Psychology. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Counseling Background

During her Masters program, Chantal completed an internship through the University of San Francisco’s Center for Child & Family Development, providing individual, group, and family counseling services to children/teens and their families. Upon graduating, she served as a psychotherapist for teen girls at the Greenbrier Academy for Girls therapeutic boarding school in West Virginia. For many years she has provided Intensive In-Home Services in Wilmington, North Carolina, providing individual, group, and family therapy sessions for clients in their homes. Most recently she provided therapy for children and families at The Children's Home (Reynolda Counseling) and Winston East Pediatrics through Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Specialization

Special interests include adjustment disorders in children and teens, millennial issues, young adult phase-of-life transitions, grief and loss, spirituality issues, depression/anxiety, parenting struggles, self-esteem, assertiveness, effective communication and relationship concerns, childhood trauma, and women’s issues including infertility and pregnancy loss.

Personal Life

Chantal lives with her husband, three children, and two dogs in the country outside of Winston Salem, NC. A self-proclaimed ambivert, Chantal is passionate about her career as a therapist and knew she wanted to do this for a living at a very young age. When she's not in the office, she enjoys being outside, hiking, writing, reading new research in the field of psychology, exploring spiritual/religious literature, poetry, making art, watching documentaries (sometimes indulging in reality TV!), taking trips to the mountains and the beach, and most of all spending time with her family.
