Background |
Betsy’s career began in group homes, where she supported clients with developmental disabilities in their transition to independent living. Prior to entering the behavioral health field, she worked exclusively with individuals diagnosed with dementia, both young and old. Since then, Betsy has counseled a wide range of clients, including children, adults, couples, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. She has gained extensive experience in both community and private practice settings. In addition to her one-on-one work, Betsy has led groups on a variety of mental health topics, using a non-directive and open approach to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.

Betsy specializes in a broad range of issues, including substance abuse, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), aging, depression, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, conduct disorder, high-functioning autism, adjustment disorders, early and late trauma, crisis counseling, family counseling, grief, stress, and anxiety.
She is particularly skilled in biofeedback techniques like deep breathing and HeartMath, helping clients achieve a calmer, more balanced state of mind. Betsy also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), especially for individuals facing addiction and behavioral challenges. Additionally, she holds a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which she applies in her work with victims of childhood sexual and physical abuse, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). |
Therapeutic Approach |
From Betsy: "My philosophy is that you, as the client, know yourself best. My role is to provide the care, support, and tools to help you navigate your personal challenges. We will work together in a collaborative and open manner, addressing your concerns in a safe, non-judgmental space. I also believe in helping you transition out of therapy at a pace that feels right for you, empowering you to take back control of your life.
I have also led group sessions in a variety of subjects, maintaining a flexible, open approach to teaching and therapy. My goal is to help you embrace change in a way that fosters growth and well-being." |
Personal Life |
When Betsy isn’t counseling, she’s a proud mom of two incredibly successful children who are a big part of her life. She shares her home with two dogs, a cat, and a lot of love for all animals. Betsy is a big fan of music and peaceful Sundays that recharge her soul. Her favorite motto? "Leave what needs to be left be." It serves as a gentle reminder that sometimes, letting go is the best way to move forward.
