Background |
During her Master’s Program, Christine worked with Action for a Better Community, a non for profit organization in the New Directions program to help provide treatment for those struggling with addiction to alcohol and substances. During this internship, Christine helped to provide counseling services that were inclusive, but not limited to, group and individual treatment sessions, recovery management and relapse prevention. Following her Master’s Program, Christine began working at a non-for-profit organization, Villa of Hope as a Preventive Social Worker working with youth ages 15-21 who were transitioning out of the foster care system to independent living. Christine enjoyed working with this population and found it very rewarding to watch youth come out of adverse childhood experiences to thrive as young adults. Christine now is enjoying more micro level work, working as a therapist supporting individuals one on one, providing a safe, therapeutic environment for each individual to share their story.

In her work, Christine has admired the courage and bravery of her clients who have shared their lived experiences with her and has found that out of adversity, many clients have found inner strength, perseverance, and a deeper understanding of life. Her ADHD-specific training allows her to provide targeted support for executive functioning difficulties, emotional regulation, and time management challenges that often accompany ADHD.

Christine lives with her husband in Winston-Salem, NC. In her free time, she enjoys wandering around botanical gardens, enjoying a strong cup of coffee, hiking in the mountains, traveling, perusing books in a local bookstore, writing poetry and building connections in the community volunteering. Christine has curiosity in exploring the meaning of life through spirituality in all forms, such as through meditation, and musing over philosophical quandaries like, “Is happiness just chemicals flowing through your brain or is it something more?” or “What do dogs dream about?” Let’s get deep!
