Gail Herbert, MS, LPC, LCMHCA
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate
she/her
Gail is licensed in the states of North Carolina and Missouri and has over 20 years of experience in mental health, social services, and educational settings. Trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and individuals, EMDR, and sand tray therapy, Gail has experience with those who have had painful or overwhelming circumstances, trauma, teens, adults, and couples.
Sometimes we feel overwhelmed, lost, sad, angry. Therapy can help you process emotion so that you can be free to live as you want, making choices with intention rather than out of reaction to pain. Deep healing is possible for you. You do not have to figure it out alone. My approach is to provide warm support and guidance to help you find the person you want to be.
Qualifications |
Gail received her Masters of Counseling from Missouri State University in 2022. She is fully licensed in Missouri (#2022028876) and provisionally licensed in North Carolina (#A20828). She has received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), as well as sand tray therapy. She has worked with teens and adults for more than 20 years in mental health, social services, and educational settings.

Counseling Background |
Gail has worked with people from varying cultural backgrounds. Her experience includes working with youth who were homeless, urban families, non-profit work with youth, adults, and families. Her approach is to meet people as individuals with unique experiences, while being aware of cultural systems and their possible impact.
In her therapeutic methodology, she uses EFT, EMDR, and sand tray therapy to help people process their emotions by slowing down and working with overwhelming experience in bite-sized pieces, recognizing that through emotion, deep healing can happen. |
Specialization |
Gail uses EFT with individuals and couples because she believes that through emotional work, connection with the individual's authentic self can occur, and within couples, the bond between them can be strengthened or reestablished. EMDR can also be used to process trauma and its effects, which may include depression, anxiety, and other emotional issues. Sand tray can be used to deepen emotional experiencing and to shift perspective.

Personal Life |
Gail is married, has two adolescent boys, a cat, and a dog. She loves consignment shopping, flea markets, and thrift stores, as well as reading and crossword puzzles. She and her husband love to have gatherings with friends and family. She enjoys board games (Fluxx, Oregon Trail, and many more!) and black coffee, movies and live concerts. A perfect day would be a long road trip with her family, listening to music and audiobooks, on the way to a national park.
