Jaimie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate specializing in working with LGBTQIA+ clients working through life transitions and post-traumatic recovery. She believes that through authentic, healing relationships we can begin to let go of barriers that keep us distant from others, our needs, our goals, and our sources of meaning in life. She is passionate about the role counselors play in addressing intersectional issues of social justice by facilitating sociopolitical empowerment among her clients. Jaimie has a diverse occupational background of working with youth and adults in public education and as a community health worker doing outreach HIV and other STI testing. For the past two years, she has been working in the field of mental health in a variety of outpatient settings in both Houston, TX and the Triad area of NC. She remains involved in advocacy within universities and local collectives in the Triad area.

Qualifications |
Jaimie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHCA #A15537) approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC). In 2019, Jaimie graduated from the University of Houston with her MEd in Counseling. She also holds a BA in Sociology and the Study of Women, Gender, & Sexuality from Rice University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Counseling Background |
During her master’s program, Jaimie completed her clinical internship at the Montrose Center in Houston, TX, which is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ and HIV+ individuals and their families. There, she managed a case load of clients seeking individual therapy and couples counseling, conducted clinical assessments, supported new clients experiencing situations of crisis, facilitated support groups for LGBTQIA+ individuals who were seeking support in coming out, and co-facilitated therapeutic groups for those struggling with substance use and recovery from trauma. Jaimie has also provided counseling services to students at UNCG in the Nicholas A. Vacc Clinic and at the Counseling Center at Guilford College.

Jaimie specializes in working with a diverse population of clients experiencing variety of presenting concerns, some of which include anxiety, depression, multiple sources of trauma, family of origin conflict, grappling with spirituality, personality disorders, and PTSD. She has specialized knowledge in working with queer, transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming clients and is well-versed in WPATH Standards of Care.

Jaimie lives with her partner in Greensboro, NC. In her free time, she enjoys cooking for loved ones, reading both fiction and nonfiction, trying new foods, learning about other cultures, traveling to new cities and outdoor settings, and appreciating all forms of art including visual art, live music, and performance art.
