Leandra Ottman is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern with a deep passion for supporting growth, healing, and connection. With a strong background working with children and adolescents in educational settings, she is excited to now walk alongside individuals and families in a therapeutic space. Leandra is especially committed to helping clients navigate life transitions, reconnect with their values, and build lives rooted in meaning and self-compassion.

She welcomes clients from all walks of life, including couples seeking to strengthen their relationships and adults pursuing emotional wellness. Leandra honors the courage it takes to engage in therapy and values the opportunity to witness each person’s unique journey toward positive change.

Qualifications
Leandra Ottman is a counselor-in-training currently pursuing her Master of Science in Counselor Education at East Carolina University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a minor in Spanish from James Madison University and nearly earned her Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Her academic path reflects a long-standing dedication to learning, service, and human connection.

​Background
A North Carolina native who spent a decade in South Florida, Leandra’s journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to service and growth. After completing her undergraduate studies, she served as an Education Volunteer in the Peace Corps alongside her partner, an experience that deepened her global perspective and compassion for others. Upon returning to the U.S., she joined Teach for America and worked as an elementary school teacher in Guilford and Forsyth Counties. The birth of her first child in 2023 marked a turning point—one that clarified her passion for supporting the emotional well-being of both children and adults. This realization led her to pursue a career in counseling.

Specialization
Leandra brings warmth, curiosity, and empathy to her work with clients. She believes healing begins in safe, affirming relationships and values the courage it takes to step into the therapeutic space. Her counseling approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Personal Life
Outside of her work and studies, Leandra cherishes time with her husband and energetic toddler. Whether exploring the outdoors, experimenting with new recipes, reading, or taking on a DIY project, she embraces creativity, presence, and joy in her everyday life.​
