Play Therapy for Children (Ages 5+)
Since 2015, we have specialized in providing high-quality play therapy for children aged 5 and above.
Children often have big emotions and experiences that they don't always know how to talk about. When words fall short, play therapy is here to help. Our dedicated team of expert therapists is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves, develop essential skills, and work through challenges using the natural power of play.
-
Play therapy is designed for children who may sometimes find it challenging to express their thoughts and feelings through regular talking. Instead of having to sit and articulate their problems, children use toys, games, and creative activities as a special language to communicate with the therapist. The therapist helps create a comfortable, child-centered space where kids can play freely and explore what's going on inside their minds and hearts.
-
A play therapy room is filled with lots of carefully selected toys, art supplies, and sometimes puppets. During a session, your child gets to choose whatever they want to play with.
Expressing Emotions: Instead of saying, "I'm sad," a child might act out these feelings using dolls or create an artwork that represents their feelings.
Storytelling: Children often create stories during play to help them make sense of their world while the therapist listens carefully and asks gentle questions.
Building Skills: Play therapy isn't just about processing problems; it is a space to learn how to solve problems, cope with stress, and manage feelings. The therapist gently guides children toward healthy ways to handle challenges.
-
At Banyan Tree Counseling, we believe in the power of play as a medium for children to work through challenges in a way that feels comfortable and natural.
Experienced Child Specialists: Our team consists of licensed expert therapists who specialize in child development and evidence-based play therapy techniques.
Child-Led Approach: We always put your child first, allowing them to lead the way at their own pace in a warm, welcoming environment.
Holistic Family Support: We recognize the interconnectedness of family dynamics. In addition to play therapy, we offer Parent-Child relationship sessions and Parenting Support to assist you in fostering strong and positive relationships with your child.
