Counseling Background |
Andrea spent the first 30 years of her professional career working with children and adults with Developmental Disabilities. She began as a direct care worker, providing supports to children in a community living home. Andrea's skills and talents ultimately led her to achieve the role of Assistant Director of the agency. In that position she supervised 6 community homes, the supported living program, and community respite program. Although she enjoyed her work, especially the lifelong relationships with so many amazing individuals (she is still in communication with some of the children who are now middle aged women she met all those years ago!), she had a strong, internal desire to become a psychotherapist. While completing her Masters degree, she held internships with a college counseling program, a community mental health counseling center and a community shelter for individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Upon graduation, she returned to her roots in Developmental Disabilities working as a Behavior Support Supervisor where she supervised behavior specialists, as well as carrying a caseload of her own clients. Since relocating to North Carolina, Andrea has worked providing individual and family based counseling in several counties and in a private practice setting.

Personal Life |
Growing up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Andrea recently moved to Winston-Salem after a long search for a warmer place in the South. She wanted a slower pace of life, good roads with manageable traffic, lots of art, culture, and friendly people. Andrea finds joy in spending time with her partner of 15 years, her dog Ivy, her five siblings, their children, and her own daughter, who also recently followed her to Winston. When she's not at work, she enjoys immersing herself in a good book, doing DIY projects around the house, gardening, taking walks with Ivy, cooking from one of her many vintage cookbooks, exercising, watching Frasier, Seinfeld, and Modern Family reruns, and playing cards with friends and family.
