A Note From Our Founder:

​Welcome to our Couples & Relationship Specialty Practice! Banyan Tree Counseling began in 2014, focusing mainly on providing therapy to children, families, and individual adults, although my roots are in couples work. I was originally trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist in my graduate program at the University of San Francisco, earning an MA in Counseling Psychology in 2008 with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Throughout my career as a therapist, I became passionate about helping relationships and obtained advanced training in several methods of couples counseling, most notably the Gottman method, based on 40 years of psychological research with couples.

I began Winston Salem Couples Counseling in 2018 as a part of Banyan Tree Counseling, focused only on couples, relationships, and families as this is a significant and much-needed specialty area. I have since personally recruited and carefully selected the very BEST couples therapists in North Carolina.

​We are proud to serve our community by providing top-notch couples/relationship counseling from skilled and experienced licensed marriage and family therapists.

Relationships are at the root of everything; the foundation for life. It is honor to do this important work.


​Many couples who come to see us for therapy have a strong desire to be closer to their partner, but have found themselves locked in a pattern of stressful interaction, which leads to the problems they are hoping to address in counseling. Some couples are wondering whether they should even stay in the relationship or not (to learn more about this, check our our Discernment Counseling page). We will meet you exactly where you are. Together with your therapist, we will navigate the process of understanding the cycles couples get stuck in and identify what needs to change in order to build a safe, intimate, and loving connection. 
Our couples + relationship therapists have been described by clients as authentic, warm, compassionate, and relatable, where exploration and discovery is fostered through partnership and respect (and sometimes humor!)
