Background |
While completing her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Jamie interned with an organization dedicated to the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, where she completed training in trauma-informed care. After graduating, Jamie worked in a residential treatment center for six years, treating a variety of addictions issues, utilizing individual, group, and family therapy. During this time, Jamie became familiar with the recovery community and the importance of community supports including 12 Step, SMART Recovery, Celebrate Recovery, and various other recovery-focused support groups. Jamie left the treatment center to pursue more focused and individualized therapy in a private practice setting, where she counseled individuals aged 4-70 on a variety of issues with a variety of backgrounds.

Jamie specializes in working with clients in a variety of stages of change, from “I’m being forced to be here” to “I’m ready to dive in!” While most of her experience and training is in trauma, Jamie realizes that human beings are made up of mind, body, and spirit, and is comfortable tackling any issue that presents in therapy. Common issues that Jamie has worked with include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, career change, life change, family of origin trauma and pain, gender and sexual identity, mood disorders, body image issues, low self-esteem, and spirituality and religion issues. Jamie welcomes clients ages 15 and older, and is inclusive and affirming of all genders, races, nationalities, religious backgrounds, and cultures.

Personal Life |
Jamie has enjoyed putting down roots in the NC Triad community after moving from Iowa in 2019. While the midwest and the south are similar culturally (everyone is nice!), Jamie has enjoyed the differences in winter weather and southern food (hello biscuits!) Outside of work, Jamie enjoys hanging out with her two teenage daughters, coaching rec softball, and working on some sort of artsy project. If there is any time left after that, you will probably catch her walking her black lab (Goose) and golden retriever (Franklin) while listening to audiobooks, specifically historical fiction and psychological thrillers.
