Olivia is a skilled and compassionate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Associate who specializes in working with children, teens, and their families. She's highly experienced in handling self-injurious and suicidal behaviors among adolescents, which Olivia attributes to her time working in psychiatric facilities and with at-risk youth. Olivia utilizes aspects of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and play-therapy techniques to improve family dynamics and help children and adolescents overcome traumatic experiences. She also provides adult counseling for those experiencing relationship issues, anxiety/depression, life transitions, and/or work stress. Olivia has a down-to-earth approach and creates an empathetic environment for clients to express themselves freely and without judgment in an empathetic environment. Olivia currently operates via virtual sessions only and plans to offer in-person therapy at Banyan Tree in Wilmington, NC in 2024.

Olivia obtained her Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina Pembroke in 2021. Prior to that, Olivia received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2019. Olivia is a National Certified Counselor (NCC: 1626979) as well as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A: #A17289) in the state of North Carolina.

Background |
Prior to becoming licensed, Olivia worked at a psychiatric inpatient hospital with children and teenagers in which she helped patients exhibiting suicidal ideations, self-harm, and unsafe behaviors. Olivia completed her graduate internship performing intensive-in-home family therapy with children and teens who were at risk for out-of-home placement. Since obtaining her clinical license, Olivia has also worked with adults of all ages at the private practice setting with a variety of different concerns. Olivia is experienced in helping families with children who present with behavioral and emotional issues utilizing aspects of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). Olivia enjoys using an eclectic approach in her sessions in which her therapeutic methods are tailored to a particular client’s needs; however, she prefers to utilize aspects of TF-CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, play therapy, and solution-focused talk therapy.

Olivia is experienced in helping children, adolescents, and their families navigate the impacts trauma can have on behavior, mood, and family dynamics. Olivia provides parental psychoeducation and uses aspects of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help families overcome traumatic and stressful experiences.* Other areas of specialty include self-harm and suicidal ideations. Olivia is also passionate about helping adults improve their boundaries with others, increase their self-esteem, and resolve conflicts within their friendships and romantic relationships. Olivia’s personal life experience has also allowed her to empathize with suicide survivors and processing grief stemming from the suicide of a loved one.

Personal Life |
Olivia was born in Chesapeake, VA, and has lived in Wilmington, NC since 2015. In her free time, you might find Olivia repotting one of her house plants or giving her free-roam bunny some veggies from her herb garden. Olivia enjoys going to the beach, binge-watching anime and Harry Potter, and testing the water chemistry of her fish tank. Her special talents include arcade Galaga, air-hockey, and hula-hooping. She is also known to dominate in the occasional family Scrabble game. Olivia is very family-oriented, and although has no children, Olivia spoils her rabbit Bugsy as if he were her son. Olivia loves to travel, and during her undergraduate years, obtained a minor in Japanese language and studied abroad in Japan. Olivia may experiment with hair dye from time to time and her clients should be emotionally prepared if her hair is colored pink one session and purple the next.
